Hotdocs: The Island President
De wereld waarin wij leven is soms vreemder dan je kunt verzinnen.
ForumImages vertoont iedere eerste woensdagavond van de maand een (import)documentaire die op geheel eigen wijze een klein deel van onze leefwereld laat zien. Een selectie van de meest spraakmakende documentaires van het afgelopen jaar. De films stemmen tot nadenken, zijn informatief, verrassend, uitdagend, vermakelijk of ronduit hilarisch, maar bieden altijd een onverwachte blik op de werkelijkheid. Woensdagavond 2 mei vertoont Hotdocs The Island President. Voorafgaand houdt emeritus hoogleraar milieukunde Ton Schoot Uiterkamp een korte inleiding.
De inwoners van de Malediven staan voor een groot probleem. Wanneer de opwarming van de aarde niet snel een halt wordt toegeroepen, wordt deze paradijselijke eilandengroep namelijk verzwolgen door het water. De charismatische president en tevens hoofdpersoon van deze documentaire, Mohamed ‘Anni’ Nasheed staat voor de moeilijke taak om de wereld ervan te overtuigen dat de Co2-uitstoot met spoed teruggebracht moet worden. Deze vriendelijke en altijd positief ingestelde man, die onder de voormalige dictatuur ooit achttien maanden doorbracht in eenzame opsluiting, zal niet snel opgeven. Als een fly-on-the-wall wordt Anni gevolgd in de aanloop naar de VN-klimaatconferentie in Kopenhagen in 2009, waarvoor hij de ene na de andere publiciteitstunt verzint. Zijn missie wordt ondersteund door het wervelende camerawerk en de imposante muziek van Radiohead en Stars of the Lid.

Perhaps we can draw inspiration from the appaarence of other fleets?Marseille has a and there are lots of other examples .I find the light coloured vehicles to appear sleek, more streamlined.
